Congratulations to Rotary District 5150 Rotarian of the Month – September 2020, Adane Elilo from the Rotary Club of Woodside / Portola Valley.

Adane Elilo has been a Rotary Club member since 2016. Over the last 4 years, he has helped bring electricity to his remote village in Ethiopia. He launched a Rotary Club (Jore durame) in his native village in 2018. He enlisted the help of private donors, Rotary Club of Woodside / Portola Valley and an NGO to build classrooms and latrines.

Adane had successfully gained permission from the Ethiopian Government to build a high school at the Jore primary school site. The JORE PATKI HIGH School reduces a 2 hour walk to school for students to attend.

In addition to his focus on building a school in this Ethiopian community, he gathered donations of computers, high speed printers, a TV monitor for teachers, sports equipment for the school and distributed dictionaries to help get the school going.

Adane helped started the Rotaract Club of Cañada College.

He is a proud Paul Harris Fellow. In 2020, his most recent accomplishment is becoming a United States of America citizen of which he is immensely proud of.

Once again, congratulations to Adane Elilo from the Rotary Club of Woodside / Portola Valley as our “Rotarian of the Month” in September 2020!
