Congratulations to Rotary District 5150's Rotarian of the Month - January 2021, Anna Yang from the Rotary Club of San Francisco West.

Anna Yang joined the Rotary Club of San Francisco West in March or 2017. A few weeks later when Anna attended her first District Assembly she knew she had joined the right organization. She saw the fun, the fellowship and the wide scope of service projects that brought Rotary’s 4-Way Test to life.

Anna jumped in with both feet attending as many District, Club and International Rotary events as she could. And she immediately said “yes” to a role on the Club’s Community Service Committee which later turned into a leadership role as board member and chair of Community Services for the club.
Under Anna’s leadership, RC SF West has strengthened and grown the services they provide throughout San Francisco. Anna initiated new projects such as volunteering with the Golden Gate Park Nursery planting seedlings in protected areas in the GG Park, the Teddy Bear collection project for the San Francisco Foster Children’s program and funding and packing school supplies for the San Francisco homeless youth in shelters.

Anna is a collaborator and creative thinker who has forged new relationships and partnerships. Her Club now works with San Francisco Health and Human Services, Urban Angels of SF, local business owners in the West end of SF and many Rotary Clubs throughout District 5150.

Beyond the local community, Anna has worked tirelessly on the WASH Global Grant project that SF West undertook several years ago. Not only has she given numerous talks to raise funds for the project, but every Saturday morning she can be found on a Zoom call with Rotary Clubs in Bangladesh serving as co-project manager. Her problem-solving skills, patience and diplomacy are unmatched in the process of creating and implementing a viable plan for completion of this challenging international project.

Anna is a R.N. specializing in holistic health and well-being. She assists women who are going through divorce, empty nest or loss of a loved one, to gain clarity, courage and confidence so they are equipped to deal with the challenges of moving forward.

Anna brings compassion and her nurse’s wisdom to all of the Club’s projects particularly the WASH Global Grant project in Bangladesh where her expertise in sanitation and now sustainable toilets is coming in very handy!

Recently she’s been visiting other Rotary Clubs in the District giving talks on how to navigate the uncertain times of Covid, to go from chaos to calm so that people have a sense of well-being.

Anna takes the helm as President of the Rotary Club of SF West in July 2021. Those who already know Anna are anticipating a year of vibrancy, expansion and of course fun!
In the less than four years Anna has been a Rotarian she has made remarkable contributions of her talents, time and treasure. It will be exciting to see her Rotary “career” continue to blossom.
Congratulations Anna Yang! You truly live the 4-way Test and Rotary is proud to have you as a member.

Once again, congratulations to Anna Yang from the Rotary Club of San Francisco West as our "Rotarian of the Month" in January 2021!
