Yachachiqs, Quechua-speaking Farmers/mentors provide peer to peer training for the families. Trained by our partner the IAA in Cusco, they are the key to the success of the families’ greenhouses.

The greenhouses allow the families to grow and harvest Year around. Fruits and Vegetables provide a far more Nutritious diel than the historic dependence on potatoes and corn. Typically, the families are consuming 60% of the food they grow. The 40% surplus is sold in local markets. The profits provide sustainability

Kusimayo in Quechua means “River of Happiness”

Rotarians provide the solar roofs, irrigation materials, pumps, tanks and seeds. We also pay for the training and provide dancing partners.
