Introduction

Alliance for Smiles provides free reconstructive cleft lip and palate surgery for under served children in developing countries. Alliance for Smiles was founded by 6 members of the Rotary Club of San Francisco in 2004. Since its beginnings, Alliance for Smiles has treated over 7,000 children worldwide. In June of 2020, Alliance for Smiles will be conducting a mission to Honduras. We plan to treat between 70 and 90 children during our two week mission.

Request For Club or District Designated Funds

We have already received pledges of support from the Rotary Club of Fisherman’s Wharf, the Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay, the Rotary Club of South San Francisco and the Rotary Club of Chinatown. However, more funding is needed. Since it is going to be funded by a global grant, DDF from clubs will be matched by Rotary International at 100%. Club donations will be matched by Rotary International by 50%. In addition, in our district, the Rose C. Stone Foundation has agreed to match donations in matching grants. It will match all DDF donations at 50% and all club donations at 100%. Therefore, individual club donations will be matched at 2.5% for the global grant. Our mission’s cost is $60,000. Half of that will be covered by the Rotary Club of San Francisco and the resulting matching from Rotary International and the Rose C. Stone Foundation. We are still in need of an additional $30,000 from clubs who are interested in supporting our work.
