The Cliff Dochterman Award honors and recognizes an individual Rotarian who acts as a role model and renders distinguished and dedicated service to Scouting through active service, leadership or other exemplary contribution. The Award is named in honor of Cliff Dochterman, a distinguished Rotarian, former RI President and dedicated Scouter. The honoree must also be a dedicated Rotarian and serve his or her club and district with distinction.
Jeff Lowenstein, of the Rotary Club of San Mateo, is our Rotary District 5150’s newest recipient of the Cliff Dochterman Award, given by the International Fellowship of Scouting Rotarians.
Jeff, a Rotarian since 1996, has served his Club and San Mateo Rotary Foundation in various roles as Board Director, Treasurer, Webmaster and San Mateo Club Rotarian of the year 2006, fundraising Chair since 2004, Board member and Treasurer of Rotary Haciendas Inc. since 2021, Co-Chair scholarship programs, District 5150 Rotarian of the month 2022, District 5150 Assembly Chair and District Finance Committee member 2023-2024
As Fundraising Chair of the Rotary Club of San Mateo since 2004, Jeff has overseen raising nearly $1,000,000 in scholarships benefiting deserving and promising youth in San Mateo. His contributions as Webmaster have been transformative, improving operations, logistics systems in Rotary and Scouting. Since 2021 Jeff serves as Board member and Treasurer of Rotary Haciendas Inc. a non-profit entity affiliated with Rotary Club of San Mateo that owns and operates 2 affordable housing facilities for 168 in San Mateo.
Since 2005 Jeff has provided troop leadership and webmaster technical expertise in service to Scouting Pack 133 San Mateo and Troop 42, contributing his logistics, operational, and technology expertise to create lasting infrastructure. He created innovative website systems consolidating unit records, communication systems, calendars and event registration. His system endures for holiday wreath distribution enhancing the pickup and sale of wreaths.
Jeff’s legacy extends across every organization he touches. Whether strengthening Scouting Pack 133 and Troop 42, invigorating the Rotary Clubs of Mountain View and San Mateo or enhancing the operations of the San Mateo Rotary Foundation, Rotary District 5150, and housing initiatives like Rotary Haciendas and Rotary Floritas. Jeff’s efforts have left an indelible mark, reflecting an unwavering commitment to the greater good and selfless service to others. His contributions have created resilient, thriving organizations and inspired countless individuals along the way, and reinforce the core values and high aspirations shared by Rotary and Scouting.
