Happy May, everyone!

This month, we’re highlighting youth services, specifically our Interact Clubs. Did you know there are nearly 30 Interact clubs in our district?  Interact clubs bring together elementary, junior high and high school students to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self.  With the mentorship of Rotarians, Interact members take action to make a difference in their schools and community while having fun and making new friends. Thank you to our many clubs that sponsor Interact clubs and help grow our next generation of leaders.

I’m excited to share that our Rotary Foundation Cruise aboard the AmaKristina was a tremendous success. More than $76,000 was raised to support Polio eradication through The Rotary Foundation.  Thanks to the many people from multiple districts that joined us for the cruise, and to AmaWaterways for their continued support.

Of course, this is in addition to the tremendous work our clubs do to raise awareness and funds for The Rotary Foundation, as well as facilitate local and global projects to convert those dollars into positive change worldwide.

Speaking of impact, our work to monitor and eradicate Polio is not over.  Two new cases of the wild Polio virus were detected in the North Waziristan District of Pakistan in just the past two weeks. That is why I’m challenging our members to boost their end-of-Rotary-year giving toward the PolioPlus Fund by donating to Parachute for Polio.  I will be joining some of my District Governor classmates to take our polio fundraising to new heights and skydive to raise awareness of our Polio eradication. Our total giving to PolioPlus is currently $181,000. Through Parachute for Polio, my goal is for our District to reach a grand total of $250,000 for the 2021-2022 Rotary year.  DONATE NOW and help us reach our goal.

Finally, this weekend is your last opportunity to register for our upcoming District Conference and Awards Celebration on May 14. We will celebrate all that you and your club has accomplished this year while having a lot of fun in the process.  Register here for the District Conference.

Thank you for your continued commitment to serving our communities and have a wonderful month!

Yours in Rotary,
