October is Rotary’s month for Economic and Community Development — a reminder that real change begins in our own communities. And like the ocean, every drop of service joins a tide of hope that carries across the world.
As Rotarians, we have the power to spark change both locally and globally. Here are some project ideas you and your clubs might consider:
Local Project Ideas
- Partner with local schools or nonprofits to offer job readiness workshops.
- Support youth entrepreneurship through mentorship or pitch competitions.
- Create or sponsor financial literacy programs at schools or communities.
- Organize a career fair connecting job seekers with local businesses.
International Project Ideas
- Fund microloans for women and small business owners in developing regions.
- Support vocational training centers that teach marketable skills.
- Partner with other clubs on sustainable agriculture or clean water projects that strengthen local economies.
- Help provide tools, equipment, or internet access for remote learning or trade skills.
World Polio Day – October 24
Polio is 99.9% eradicated, but we’re not done yet. Join Rotarians worldwide to raise awareness and funds:
- Host a World Polio Day event in your community.
- Share Rotary’s polio eradication message on social media.
- Make a club or personal contribution to End Polio Now.
Together, let’s build stronger economies, healthier communities, and a more hopeful world — one project at a time.
