Rotary District 5150: A Year of Mental Health Focus and Success
As we conclude another Rotary year, it's time to reflect on our journey and celebrate the impactful work accomplished in Rotary District 5150. This year, inspired by the visionary leadership of Rotary International President Gordon McInally, we focused on a critical and often overlooked area: mental health.

Embracing President McInally's Vision
President McInally emphasized the importance of mental health, encouraging us to break down stigmas, raise awareness, and provide support to those in need. His dedication to this cause resonated deeply within our district, and we are proud to have embraced his vision wholeheartedly. By prioritizing mental health, we have taken significant steps toward creating a more understanding and supportive community.
A Year of Dedication and Compassion and Celebrating Mental Health Month
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to every Rotarian who participated in this year’s mental health initiatives. Your commitment, compassion, and proactive efforts have made a tangible difference. Whether you organized events, participated in discussions, or offered a listening ear, your contributions have been invaluable in promoting mental wellness within our community.

Last month, we celebrated Mental Health Month with two significant events that underscored our commitment to this cause. These events not only raised awareness but also provided practical tools and resources for mental well-being.  We kicked off by inviting Rotarians to the Drew Robinson event which was a survivors story of mental health, hope and recovery and on May 10th, the Rotary Club of Belmont Redwood Shores hosted a mental health conference “The Human Brain, Hope and Recovery.”  We had the opportunity to have our Rotary International President Gordon McInally attend and engage in community discussions on how Rotary can make a difference in mental health.

Looking Ahead: Our Work is Not Done
As we look ahead, it's clear that our work is far from over. Mental health is an ongoing journey, and our efforts must continue beyond this Rotary year. We invite all Rotarians and community members to join us in sustaining and expanding our mental health initiatives.  We are hosting a one-year celebration of our creation of District 5150 Mental Health Rotarian Action Group for Mental Health on July 15th at 6pm.  Sign up here  This event will not only celebrate our achievements but also help us plan activities for the next Rotary year to continue supporting mental health advocacy and education.

Thank you, District 5150, for your unwavering dedication and compassion. Together, we’ve demonstrated that prioritizing mental health strengthens not only individuals but our entire community. Let’s carry this spirit forward into the next Rotary year and beyond.

About the Mental Health Matters blog series:

This Rotary year, Rotary International President Gordon McInally has inspired us to think about Creating Hope in the World, and we can do so by ensuring we are practicing caring for ourselves and others this Rotary year.  Each month we will take a moment to share a mental health moment to inspire you on how you can practice caring for yourself and others.

In addition, District 5150 has taken a pledge to focus on mental health and has a group of committed Rotarians working towards making a difference in the arena of mental health here in our own district. Check the District Calendar for the next Mental Health Rotarian Action Group meeting or the Men’s Support Group meeting.
