THE SAN FRANCISCO ROTARY CLUBS SELECT A LONG-TIME AND DEDICATED MEMBER OF SF GREATER MISSION ROTARY CLUB AS DISTRICT 5150’s JULY 2017 ROTARIAN OF THE MONTH … SOLON CASTILLO!
Solon Castillo is a two-decade member of the SF Greater Mission Rotary Club!
As club president, Solon achieved the club’s goal to have a vigorous and focused international committee developing and supporting long-term projects in Nicaragua and El Salvador. A native of Nicaragua, Solon’s strong desire was to help his country’s struggling populace especially those needing medical care and basic education.
With his Rotary club, Solon not only created a rural medical/dental clinic and a juvenile diabetic program, but also a scholarship program for children living in dire poverty in the county’s capital – Managua. The Greater Mission Rotary Club also partnered with Managua’s Rotary Club to support these programs.
In addition, Solon plays a major role in making the Club’s annual auction – the major fundraiser to support the club’s local and international projects – a huge success each year!
The Greater Mission Rotary Club and all the Rotary Clubs of San Francisco are proud of and inspired by Solon and his Rotary achievements and are therefore delighted to select him for this special Rotary District 5150 recognition.
