Rotary District 5150 is proud to honor Orlando Arce, a charter member of the Rotary Club of San Francisco Greater Mission, as Rotarian of the Month for July 2025.

Since the club’s founding in 1989, Orlando has been a cornerstone of leadership, service, and dedication. He has held every leadership position within the club and has been a longtime International Service Chair.

As part of his Rotary service, he has traveled to many different countries. He is instrumental in supporting the club’s diabetic children program in Nicaragua delivering insulin and other supplies. He typically visits twice a year. He is also the mover behind the club’s support for blindness prevention with doctors operating on cataracts, and on children with strabismus in Nicaragua.
He was instrumental in applying for and obtaining over 600 wheelchairs for disabled adults and children in El Salvador. He has provided support and provisions after hurricane Mitch in 1988 and participated in building houses for the less fortunate in El Salvador.

Orlando’s service extends even further through his extensive volunteer work with Rotaplast International, where he has participated in numerous medical missions to Colombia, Venezuela, Nicaragua and El Salvador—several times serving as Mission Director. His work has directly contributed to transforming the lives of children and families around the world.

In addition to his international work, Orlando has played a vital role in supporting the club’s fundraising efforts, especially through his long-standing involvement in organizing and running club auctions—critical events that sustain local and international service projects. The Greater Mission club’s annual auction is one of the best in the district raising approximately $30,000 to $40,000 each year.

A true embodiment of Service Above Self, Orlando Arce’s legacy of leadership and compassion continues to inspire. Rotary District 5150 is honored to recognize him as the Rotarian of the Month for July 2025.
