Congratulations to Rotary District 5150 Rotarian of the Month for June 2022, Liane Nicolas, from the Rotary Club of Peninsula Starlight!

Liane is a charter member of Peninsula Starlight, from contributing to the creation of by-laws through introduction and charter parties. She has been on the Rotary rosters for two plus years, but she has been a longtime active member in the Rotary family, participating with her father, Dennis Pettinelli of the Rotary Club of Belmont & Redwood Shores, and her husband, Jonathan Nicolas at the Rotary Club of San Carlos. Over the years, she has supported innumerable fundraisers, projects, events and socials.

Since its founding, Liane has continued to be a driving and guiding force in the Rotary Club of Peninsula Starlight. She served on the Board and has chaired both Membership and Fundraising committees for the past two plus years. As Membership Chair, she developed strategic membership growth, surveyed and responded to members’ needs, nurtured leadership development planning, coordinated our social events, and made everyone feel special. Many of the new-to-Rotary club members joined because of
Liane. She keeps the club on a path of innovative thinking and helps us get things done. She is now engaged in exploring the start of an Interact Club.

As Fundraising Chair, she led the club in four major fundraisers. Bingo Palooza benefited the San Carlos Senior Community Center, a Toy Drive for St. Anthony’s benefited local families, 100 Points of Light was a unique virtual event that benefited four non-profits (Redwood City Police Activities League, Redwood City Education Foundation, City Trees, and Asili Research), and H2OBingo for H2OpenDoors.

Liane has also fostered collaboration between clubs in fundraising and friendship. Liane co-chairs the annual Jim McGovern Memorial Golf Tournament, which is a collaborative fundraiser between the Rotary Clubs of Peninsula Starlight, San Carlos and Belmont-Redwood Shores to honor long-time Rotarian Jim McGovern, who passed away in 2020.

"Liane is a born connector who brings people together, across clubs and community," said Lora Curran, Past President for the Peninsula Starlight. "She has creative vision and her project management skills deployed in Rotary amaze me. She has a huge heart, is endlessly supportive, and the kind of leader who helps others succeed. And, she knows how to bring the FUN! Liane Nicolas inspires me in Rotary."

Once again, congratulations to Liane Nicolas, from the Rotary Club of Peninsula Starlight as our Rotary District 5150 Rotarian of the Month for June 2022!
