Rotary District 5150 is proud to recognize Janis Jerman of the Rotary Club for Global Action (RCGA) as our Rotarian of the Month for June 2025. A Rotarian for more than 21 years, Janis exemplifies service, leadership, and a deep commitment to both Rotary and her local and global communities.
Janis began her Rotary journey in January 2003 with the Rotary Club of New Britain-Berlin in Connecticut. During her time there, she served in multiple leadership roles, including several terms on the club’s board, Foundation Chair, Speaker Chair, and as the organizer of a district conference and the club’s largest fundraising event at the time. Her impact was felt at every level of club service.
Since transferring to the Rotary Club for Global Action in July 2023, Janis has taken on the vital role of Club Secretary—one she fulfills with unmatched energy and dedication. She has become one of the most active and engaged secretaries the club has ever known, regularly going above and beyond her role to support nearly every function within the club.
Despite RCGA being an e-club, Janis actively seeks in-person connection with fellow members. In 2023, she drove to New York to meet with the President-Elect who was traveling from California to participate in the club’s Annual Global Clean-up. She also chaperoned an Interact Zone Conference in Calgary, demonstrating her commitment to youth service.
Janis has attended ten Rotary International Conventions and is a passionate advocate for the experience, encouraging fellow Rotarians to take part in the global fellowship and inspiration that these events offer.
Outside of Rotary, Janis is an active civic leader and volunteer. She serves on the boards of:
The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain
CW Resources, which provides vocational support for people with disabilities
The local emergency medical service
The New Britain Youth Museum and Hungerford Nature Center
Partners for Andean Community Health, supporting a hospital for indigenous communities in Ecuador
She also volunteers four days each month at local food pantries, bringing her commitment to service full circle in both local and international contexts.
Professionally, Janis is an impartial hearing officer and arbitrator, handling union grievance cases and administrative hearings for multiple state agencies. She even serves as a judge for an endurance auto racing series—truly embodying a diverse and active life of purpose.
Janis Jerman is a Rotarian who lives the values of “Service Above Self” in every facet of her life. Her passion, reliability, and extraordinary dedication to others make her an exemplary choice for Rotarian of the Month.
Please join us in congratulating Janis Jerman, District 5150’s Rotarian of the Month for June 2025!
