The Marin Clubs are thrilled to present their selection for Rotarian of the Month for the month of August –

Joan Capurro of the Rotary Club of Ross Valley!

This very special Rotarian is a 27-year Rotarian and in 1988 was the second female member of her Club. Joan has not only served in many Board positions, but has volunteered countless hours on Club projects and fund raisers. A Paul Harris Fellow Benefactor many, many times over, Joan just completed serving as her Club’s President for the third time!

Joan’s remarkable spirit and dedication to Rotary was recently exemplified after a diagnosis of breast cancer during her presidential year. Her fellow club Past Presidents stepped in to preside over weekly meetings while Joan underwent chemo treatment but Joan’s commitment and love for the Rotary “Family” was not daunted as she continued to attend meetings, inspiring her fellow Rotarians with her positive outlook and a smile that reflected her tremendous faith in God. Even after surgery, Joan’s relentless optimism and grace are reflected in her own words: “Love and Gratitude to my Family and Friends for all the prayers and caring about me. We live much better lives when we Love and are Loved in Return.”

What a gift and inspiration Joan is to all of us, the members of the Rotary Club of Ross Valley, District 5150, and each person with whom Joan has come into contact. A beautiful person, both inside and out!
