August 2018 Rotarian of the Month:
Tom Gibboney of the Rotary Club of Menlo Park

Tom Gibboney represents what “Service Above Self” really means. His lifelong commitment to make our Menlo Park community and Rotary District 5150 a better place to live and work is unmatched. While recognizing his responsibility locally, he also understands the importance in reaching out business to help others get a better understanding of what Rotary is about.
Few Rotarians truly represent what it means to be a “Rotarian” than this individual. Tom has spent more than 25 years serving our club in many ways. He has served on virtually all club committees at some point and has been instrumental in making our club one of the most highly regarded in our District. The “Tour De Menlo” has achieved a remarkable feat by having maintained scholarships for Menlo Park residents with an $30,000-$40,000 yearly average. The Tour de Menlo engages 350-500 riders and represents Rotary clubs in all our communities.

Among his many achievements in and for Rotary of Menlo Park, Tom’s achievements include Past Foundation President, a Paul Harris Fellow, a cycling Fellow, and has met the Four Areas of Service, club service, vocational service, community service and youth services. He stands out in his willingness to be a mentor to our scholarship students on numerous occasions. In fact, he is currently connected with Menlo College to provide scholarships through Tour de Menlo.
