THE ROTARY CLUBS OF SAN MATEO COUNTY ARE PLEASED TO SELECT DISTRICT 5150’s ROTARIAN OF THE MONTH FOR MARCH 2017

Greg Kuhl has been a Rotarian since 1978, serving as the President of the Rotary Club of Foster City/Mariner’s Island in 1981-1982.   Greg “bleeds” Rotary blue and gold with 100% attendance for 39 years and is Foster City Rotary Club’s poster boy for Service Above Self.

For more than 30 years, Greg has been the Rotary Club of Foster City’s liaison to the Interact Club at San Mateo High School (SMHS), growing it into the largest Interact Club in District 5150.   During those years, Interact students and Foster City Rotarians have traveled to Mexico more than 15 times to install playgrounds and distribute wheelchairs.   For 15 years Interact students have hosted a Senior Ball for elderly members of the Foster City community and annually conduct a bike fix event for needy children. Interactors also coordinate an annual pre-school Santa gift giving project and have collected soccer uniforms to distribute to children in Developing Countries including a Zulu village in South Africa.   In April 2016, 20 Interact students from SMHS and 15 Foster City Rotarians installed a playground for Yurok Nation children in Klamath, California.   A second playground installation project for the Yurok Nation is in the works for April 3-6, 2017.

Greg has served as District 5150’s Coordinator for Interact Clubs for more than 15 years, a role which he currently co-chairs with Alan Kirth from the Rotary Club of Millbrae. Greg is a Paul Harris Fellow and a Major Donor to The Rotary Foundation.   He is a member of the renowned Rotary Club of Foster City’s Cooking Crew and a venerable auctioneer at the Club’s live auction events.

Greg Kuhl exemplifies the very best of Rotary and for this reason, the Rotary Clubs of San Mateo County select him as District 5150’s Rotarian of the Month for the month of March 2017.
