Jeff and his wife, Phyllis, have been residents of Foster City since 1974. Jeff’s volunteer activities over almost four decades are numerous and varied. He has been involved in Foster City sports as a baseball, soccer and basketball coach since his children, Chris and Robin, were very young. His interests encompass Rotary, The Foster City Village, tending to the Foster City roses, coordinating the Second Harvest Food Bank twice monthly distributions, driving for seniors and providing handy-man services to senior citizens.
Jeff joined the Rotary Club of Foster City in 2010 and brought his work ethic, ready smile and sense of humor into the mix. He co-chaired our One Warm Coat project, distributed dictionaries to Foster City third graders, helped out with Concerts in the Park, RibFest, Senior Ball, Spaghetti Feed, Samaritan House and Foster City Village as coordinator of volunteers.
The Yurok Nation benefitted from Jeff’s efforts as he and other Rotarians and Interactors dismantled playgrounds from San Mateo County and refurbished them before re-installing them in Klamath, California. Jeff’s boyish enthusiasm is a delight to both young and old! He coaches and plays on two Rotary bocce ball teams, plays competitive singles and mixed doubles tennis plus finds time to introduce his grandkids to all sorts of radio controlled cars, boats and drones!
He has faithfully supported The Rotary Foundation Annual Fund and POLIO-PLUS as a donor and is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow. To encourage others, Jeff offered a challenge grant to match donations by others to TRF. Jeff has given generously to our own club foundation and has modeled a cheerful giving spirit for others. Recently acknowledged as the 2017-2018 recipient of the Rotary Club of Foster City Avenues of Service Award, Jeff is a true role model for Service Above Self.
