Human trafficking is a terrible crime that has been hidden for far too long. Many of the traffickers’ methods have been exposed, while others lurk destructively behind masks of decency. Criminals take advantage any way they can. It is the vigilance and courage of everyday people that oftentimes tips the scales to expose yet another layer of the insidiousness that is human trafficking.
Please join us on February 15th, 2025, at 8:45 am, to hear the stories of three such everyday people, each who has recognized the facts in their respective fields and taken action to expose, protect, and find justice for the survivors of the nefarious operations that they found.
2024-2025 District 5150 Governor Steve Wright, of the Rotary Club of Pacifica will offer Opening Remarks.
Jim Carriere, from Rotary Club of Novato, EVP-COO of First Federal of San Rafael, and ShelterBox USA, will speak about the abuse of banking systems by human traffickers and AI generated IDs used to open accounts for all kinds of nefarious purposes.
Brad Adams, Founder and CEO of Climate Rights International, will tell us about the effect of climate change on human trafficking and corporate accountability for both issues.
Meagan Verschueren, Counsel with Singleton Schreiber on their Sexual Assault and Human Trafficking practice group, will recount her work on pursuing justice for survivors by prosecuting large corporations and institutions that allow the culture of human trafficking.
Your host, Laurel Botsford, of the Rotary Club of Terra Linda, Founder and Ex. Dir. of Wisdom International, will close with an introduction of the disturbing new trend of "Nudify" websites that everyone needs to know about to protect their family.
A compact event with a lot of impact aimed at protecting the vulnerable wherever and whomever they may be.
