Join us for this Special Speaker Event hosted by the District 5150 TRF Committee! Rotarian pilots Peter Teahen and John Ockenfels, who just completed an Around the World Flight in a Cessna T210M single engine piston aircraft to raise money for PolioPlus, will share their exciting adventure with us. They are among an elite group of pilots who have circumnavigated the globe in a single engine plane.

Here are some amazing facts about this achievement:

90 Trip Days! 180 Flight Hours! 30,000 Miles Flown! 37 Landings in 19 Countries!

Pilot Teahen is a member of the Cedar Rapids West Rotary Club and an experienced pilot of over 47 years. Pilot Ockenfels is a member of the Iowa City Rotary Club, a past District 6000 Governor, and has had 43 years of flying experience Both are members of the International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians. To date, this flight has raised over $500,000 in donations, and when matched by the Gates Foundation, will raise over $1.5 million to Eradicate Polio! This in-person event is open to all Rotarians, their families, and guests. Meet at the Louis A Turpen Aviation Museum, SFO International Terminal Departure Level, Pre-Security, adjacent to the Boarding Area “A” Security Checkpoint. Snacks and beverages will be served.
 
If you are driving, park in the SFO International Terminal Hourly parking structure ($8.00 per hour) on level 8. Take the Blue Line AirTrain to the International Terminal, which is the next stop. Take the escalator down to the Departure level and turn right. The Museum will be to the left of the security checkpoint. Look for the blue Pan Am globe in the window.
 
If you are taking BART to the SFO International Terminal, exit the BART station and walk straight ahead to the opposite end of the building, keeping the ticket counters to your right and the security checkpoint to your left. Turn right at the end of the ticket counter and walk towards the Boarding Area “A” side of the building. The Aviation Museum is to the left of the Boarding Area “A” security checkpoint.
