Stan Wong Named District Rotarian of the Month for October
We are delighted to announce that Stan Wong is the District Rotarian of the Month for October.
Stan joined the Rotary Club of SF Chinatown in 2023 and has since brought his spirit of volunteerism and a “can do” attitude in everything he touches.
His presence is felt each week at a weekly Food Pantry in the heart of Chinatown serving over 350 families.
Today, it’s the Food Pantry. Tomorrow, it’s hot lunches at the Dorothy Wong Senior Center and fundraising for Alzheimer’s Assoc. Later in the week he hands out reading glasses to the homeless or he’s meeting with lawmakers to better help those with dementia. Sundays he oversees the Senior Center activities at church. Wherever there’s a gap in public services, Stan steps in.
Stan is a force to be reckoned with, currently volunteering at no fewer than eight Bay Area organizations. He has made volunteerism a central part of his life and has done so since the mid 1970s.
He always has a smile on his face, finding new ways to bring the community together and feel more connected, compassionate and inclusive. He truly exemplifies all the Rotary ideals.
His work is never confined to one cause. In recent years, Wong has become a key figure in Alzheimer’s advocacy and currently has become the event chair for the SF Walk to End Alzheimer’s. He brings a joy, fun, purpose and a cultural richness to this event by introducing Chinese Lion Dancers and Día de los Muertos-inspired offerings.
Stan Wong brings so much joy to everything he does. His energy is both boundless and contagious, and he truly exemplifies Rotary’s ideals. Please join us in congratulating Stan on being named District Rotarian of the Month for October!
